About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hello, Flying to Shanghai

I am currently living in Taipei but I am Italian. I want to do a long week end and apply for the 144 hrs visa.. I was thinking to fly to Shanghai on Friday directly and then on Sunday fly to Hongkong and to Taipei on the same day, using Hong kong as a middle stop.
Would it be ok?
Thanks!

Thanks Rob. Can you just clarify if this included a 2 hour stop over in Hong Kong (not going through immigration or leaving air port) thanks :)

Your Taipei-Shanghai flight must not include a stop in HK or Mainland China should you decide that you are going back to Taipei via HK.
