About:China Visa

US- Tokyo (5days)- Shanghai (2 days)- Tokyo (few hour layover)- US

Would this route qualify for the 144 visa free? I’m having trouble understanding if the layover back in Tokyo is an issue.

Aaron, Tokyo - Shanghai - Tokyo is not a transit, so you cannot use the free transit policy. You can try Tokyo - Shanghai - another country or region instead of South Korea.
