72-hour transit visa question

Hello, I am flying from US to Japan, then to Beijing, then back to US, BUT the last leg of my trip is not a direct flight, but with stopover in Japan (will not leave airport, 3 hours layover). Am I eligible for 75-hour transit stay? Thank you

For Chinese immigration purposes, you are flying Japan-China-Japan and therefore you are not in transit and do not qualify for transit without visa. It's irrelevant that you don't clear immigration in Japan.
