About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

im looking to book a flight from Singapore to Tokyo and a return flight from osaka to Singapore

However, there will be a layover in PVG airport in Shanghai. The first layover to connect to Tokyo is 7 hours. Then on a separate date when im returning to connect back to singapore, it is 2:45 minutes.

Is this ok?

And finally, a layover of 2:45 minutes. Do you think that is enough time for a me to get passed immigration with this rule and still make my flight? In other words, is the process for the guards to enable my pass a long process?

Finally I would just like to note that I am a Canadian citizen with a Canadian passport. As far as I know you do not need a visa to enter Japan.

Please let me know about my questions

You don't need a visa if that's what you are asking. Hopefully your 2:45-min layover is a typo.

You wont be able to leave the airport on a stop in shanghai under 8 hours (or 9-24 hours w/ advance hotel booking) but otherwise you are fine. Singapore > Under 24 hours in China > Japan is ok. Then Japan > under 24 hours in China > Singapore is ok, no visa needed. 2hr 45 min should be enough time to get to your connecting flight.

If possible I'd go more than 3 hr connect in Shanghai so you dont feel rushed. You can stop for up to 144 hours each way if you want to try to experience China
