About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hours

Does Beijing still start counting the 72 hours from arrival time instead of midnight? I did not know about this rule and booked flights for 74 hours after arrival in Beijing (Orlando to Beijing to Thailand). Do I need to cancel my flights? ):

There is no 72-hour transit in Beijing as it has been replaced by 144-hour transit. The duration of stay starts from the day after arrival so you'll definitely be fine.
