About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Dear ! Sweden 240 hours x 2

Dear, I wonder if I fly from CPH (Swedish Citizen) to Xian and then on to Shantou and then by train to HK and fly from HK to CPH.
Do I get 240 hours free transit visa in each city, i.e. a total of 480 hours in China or ?
Or if I fly from Xian to HK then Macao by boat to Shenkou in Shenzhen then train to Shantou and then train back to HK. Wondering if I can again get new 240 hours?
Thanks for the answer in advance!

Best regards :

Michael .T

If you want to enjoy 2 x 240 hour visa free transit then you should do as you have described in your second section of your post. So, you will fly from Copenhagen to Xi'an (there is no direct flight from Copenhagen, but it is fine to fly Copenhagen - Beijing - Xi'an). You will get 240 hours in Beijing where all formalities are performed. In China it is always done on the first point of landing. After this you will fly to Hong Kong. The first 240 hour visa free transit is closed and you can restart a new one, but a high recommendation is that you have one overnight in Hong Kong or Macau. After an overnight, you can take a ferry from Macau to Shekou in Shenzhen and then proceed by train to Shantou. You will get new 240 hour visa free transit in Shekou that is an eligible point of entry into mainland China when traveling on 240 hour visa free transit. After your stay in Shantou and the surroundings you can travel to Hong Kong by train. Here it is important to understand that in both cases you will have to have your exit tickets bought even before you depart toward mainland China. In other words, you will have to have your Xi'an to Hong Kong flight ticket at the time of check-in in Copenhagen and also, you will have to have a train ticket from Shantou to Gong Kong at the time of boarding the ferry in Macau. So, one 240 hour visa free transit is assigned to you for every entry into mainland China and you cannot get new 240 hour visa free transit unless you exit mainland China. For example, you can travel under 240 hour visa free transit on the route Copenhagen - Beijing - Xi'an - Shantou - Hong Kong, but under one 240 hour visa free transit. However, if this is too short time to visit those places during 240 hour visa free transit, you will plan your entire itinerary in the way to exit toward Hong Kong, then from Macau back to mainland China for new 240 hour visa free transit and finally return to Hong Kong. I hope we have cleared all the necessary details :)
