Permission to stay in China to teacher after 10 years if apartment owned

I once read that if you had been a teacher in China for 10 years or more, you could remain in China permanently if you owned an apartment. All that was necessary was to supply a letter from your last employer/ school, university. Has anyone else heard of this? George
