About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hr Visa for Beijing

I have an Australian passport and flying from Delhi to Beijing to Melbourne. Flight from Delhi to Beijing is not direct - there is a layover in Shanghai for 2 hours (Delhi - Shanghai - Beijing). Will I require a visa?

You do not need a visa if your total time in China is under 24 hours. Otherwise, you'll need a visa.

Thanks. I am wanting to spend 4 days in Beijing and wanted to understand if I would be eligible for the 144 hour visa?

You are not eligible for 144-hour transit. You need to change your outbound flight so it doesn't stop elsewhere in Mainland China, or get a visa.
