About:Chinese Consulate in New York

Does the consulate have a waiting area for rush service? How many hours does rush service take?

I'm going to apply for Chinese Visa at the New York Consulate and plan on coming in early in the morning at 9 a.m. I will apply for rush service to get the visa the same day.

I am coming from out-of-state and have to plan my trip according to how long it is expected to take for rush service. I was wondering if there is a place for me to sit while I wait for the consulate to process my visa. How long is it expected to take? Would I need to book hotels or can this be done in one day?

The rush service takes one business day, but it is available only in extreme emergencies and subject to approval by the consular officer. You can call the consulate to confirm that.
