Can I exit China with no residence permit after 30 days?

Hello,

I am currently on student X1 type and I have been in China since the end of august. I have been living on campus and this means that the school is supposed to apply for Residence permit in my case (According to the local police) I didnt really know what that means I simply thought it is some formalities in the system and not an actual paper in the passport. So I guess the school either forgot to inform me about a ready RP or forgot me. Will they let me leave China without it and allow me to make new visa?
