About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

3-days in Beijing then the train to Ulanbaator

We will be flying from Seattle to Beijing. We plan to spend three days in Beijing and then take the train to Mongolia. In order to get to Ulanbaator, we have to buy a ticket from Beijing to Jining South, another ticket to Erlian and then cross the border by keep into Mongolia. This will be less than 144 hours. My question is will this count towards 144 hour free transit?

Yes, this will qualify for the 144 hour free transit.

No you can´t use the 144h twov as trains to Mongolia depart from Beijing Railway Station, which is not eligible for the free transit.
Just the West Railway Station is an entry/exit port.

You have to apply for a visa in advance.

Thomas,
There is a train from Beijing west that goes to the border of Mongolia. But it says it stops in Erlian (border town) and then you have to cross the border by taxi. I’m wondering if this would fall under the 144 hour free transit.
Thank you
