About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

The 72-hour rule is for one use per trip? Or within one direction?

If I book a trip from New York to Sydney with a 72-hour layover in Sydney, can I then do that again on the way back if it's several weeks later? Or is it a one time visa permit for the trip?
I meant a 72-hour layover in Shanghai, not Sydney.

There's no limit on how many times you can use the program within a certain period of time. The best way to avoid the delay at immigration is to get a 10-year L visa though.
