About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240-Hour rule

Hello.
I want to thank you for the incredible work on answering all the questions on this portal.
I have another question regarding China 240-Hour (10 Days) Visa-Free Transit (I hold a Ukrainian passport). If my route looks like Dublin (via France) - Beijing - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Dublin (via France). 240-Hour (10 Days) will apply only to stay in Beijing - Shanghai and exclude Hong Kong?
Once again, thank you so much for your help.

The first and the most important detail is that your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit in every aspect. The detail that makes it eligible is your Hong Kong stop on your segment from mainland China toward Europe. You should just take care that your flight from Europe to mainland China does not have a landing in Hong Kong of any kind!

240 hour visa free transit excludes Hong Kong from the calculations because Hong Kong has separate immigration policy from mainland China. Consequently, you can use all your 10 available days in mainland China (Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou...) and after that travel to Hong Kong where 240 hour visa free transit does not have any effect. The citizens of Ukraine have a visa free stay in Hong Kong for up to 14 days. Have a nice visit to China.
