About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Guangzhou different airline transit/24h

Hi,
1) I would be flying to Guangzhou from Europe on one airline Turkish Airlines and then two and a half days later (within the time limit) I would be heading to Taipei on Cathay via HKG. Do I need to apply for a visa in advance?

2) Alternatively can I arrive in Guangzhou from Europe and take a train to HKG next day and fly out from there? (Would be cheaper and more convenient)

1) You must check your luggage all the way to HK and remain in the transit area, otherwise you need a transit visa.
2) You need a transit visa if departing by land.

No. All transit visas must be obtained from a Chinese diplomatic mission. The ones issued at the airports are not visas, but entry permits.
