About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Russia-Australia with China transit 24h

Hello! I'm from Russia. I am flying to Australia with two transfers in China. Novosibirsk - Beijing - Hainan - Melbourne. The return will be the same route. The total transit time through China is approximately 23 hours, including transfers. Do I need to apply for a visa to China? Thanks.

Thanks for the very detailed answer! You have indicated the absolutely correct flights to Melbourne. When we fly back we will arrive from Melbourne to Haikou with the flight that you indicated at 07:15, but we will later leave the next day from Beijing S75724 06:05. Transit is exactly 23 hours. We worry, the flight may be delayed and then the transit time will be exceeded. Will passing the passport control and border be considered the completion of our transit through China? Thanks.

You don't need to be worry as just the scheduled arrival time counts.
If your flight is delayed and you exceed the 24h, it's not your problem.

Artem, it is absolutely crucial to know your exact time of your first scheduled arrival, in your case in Beijing, until your final scheduled departure, in your case from Haikou (you have written Hainan, but only Haikou on Hainan has direct flight to Melbourne). I assume that you will arrive in Beijing by S75723 arriving at 05:10 and depart from Haikou by HU483, departing at 01:30 of the next day. So, if I'm right, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare in Novosibirsk that you will travel to Melbourne via China using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection of his tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Beijing, you will apply for a temporary entry permit at 24 hour visa free transit counter to be allowed to collect your luggage and perform a recheck for your flight to Haikou. I assume that you will fly between Beijing and Melbourne all the way by Hainan Airlines, so they will probably tag your luggage all the way to Melbourne, but you will ask if this will be done in this way,. just for a case.

If you travel back using the same airlines, that would mean that you will first take HU484 that arrives in Haikou at 07:15 and from Beijing a flight S75722, departing the next day at 02:50. Again, if I'm right, you will be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit again.

You will confirm if I have assumed your flights in the proper way.
