You can do that under 144 hour visa free transit, there is no doubt about it. There is just one detail that has to be resolved even before your departure from Taipei to Shenzhen. This is your ticket that you will use to reach Macau. You should be aware that under 144 hour visa free transit you have to have confirmed tickets all the way through mainland China. Since I am not aware of any direct, cross border bus option that connects Zhuhai and Macau, I will suggest you to take a ferry from Zhuhai to Shenzhen and from there (Shekou port) take a ferry provided by TurboJet to Macau. This option works, but as I have previously written, you will have to buy this ferry even before your departure from Taipei. Simply, when you land in Shenzhen, you will have to have a copy of your ferry ticket is your hand. If you find any direct option from Zhuhai to Macau and if you can buy such a ticket before your arrival in China, that would be a solution, but I somehow doubt that something like this will be possible.
