About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Australia to China

Hi - we plan to arrive in Beijing on the 23rd and spend 3 days (under 72 hours) and then flying to Japan or Indonesia (not confirmed) however since we are Australians we do not require a visa for Japan or Indonesia. Can we still do the Beijing Trip? We will have separate tickets for Aus-China leg and China-Japan/Indonesia leg.

Thanks

Yes, you can still travel like that. No need to worry. Nice trip!

Because you have 2 separate tickets, please double check. Don't spoil your Christmas!

But isn’t the idea of an onward flight (whether under the same Booking Reference or another ticket) to showcase to Chinese airport immigration authorities that we don’t intend to stay in China for an longer than what is legally permitted I.e. under 72 hours.

You have to show your onward ticket, and you have to fly it.
