About:China Transit Visa

transit visa for an Australian passport holder

Hi,

I am flying from Sydney through Guangzhou then to Beijing before departing to Russia all within 24 hours. I am an Australian passport holder. Do I need a Visa to do this?

In the past I have never required an entry permit, however my wife, who is a Russian passport holder was not allowed to board her flight in Sydney as they said if she had a layover in more than one Chinese city she could not transit through China without an entry permit.

Kind Regards,

Dennis McIntyre

Dennis, yes, you need a transit G type for it.

generally I make sure that the two airlines are partnered meaning my luggage gets forwarded to the next aircraft for me. This way I do not have to leave the "secure" side of the airport to get my luggage and then re-enter security. That is when a transit visa comes into play.
