Hi, you can enjoy 24 hour direct transit in Guangzhou if you don't leave the airport since Guangzhou no longer allows persons with layovers for less than 24 hours to clear immigration. If you want to leave the airport then you'll need a transit visa in advance.

Hi Gary, just to clarify, if i chose to go out the airport, is there an exemptions for my case (19-hour layover) if let say I spend 10-15 hours to tour within the city & go back at airport to board at my final destination? if there is, can I apply for Transit entry permit directly at Baiyun Airport or I have to process it from country of origin?

If so, you need to apply for a transit G type visa from the China embassy in your home country for that.
