About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizen Travel

I am traveling from LAX to Chengdu, but I have a layover in Beijing before arriving in Chengdu. I continue from Chengdu to Macau two days later. Am I eligible for the 72-hour policy in Chengdu?

You are not eligible for 72 hours free transit. Your two stops in China immediately limit you to 24 hours. You need to change your flights or get a visa.

Thank you.
Looking at changing flights now.
If I book a direct flight to Chengdu, stay for the two days, and then leave for Macau that would be acceptable within the 72 hours?

Do the tickets have to be under the same reservation or can they be different airlines?
Thanks for the assistance

Hi, you are eligible for the 72-hour policy in Chengdu by traveling USA-Chengdu(two days)-Macau, and tickets from different airlines will be fine. No need to worry.
