About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Flying from Tokyo via Seol and back to Tokyo direct, does this qualify for a 72h Transit Visa?

Hi, if we fly to Shanghai from Tokio with a stopover in Seol and then back from Shanghai straight to Tokio
does this qualify? Will we need stamps from South Korean imigration to prove? What documents do we need to show? We hold Swiss and German passports.

Thank you

Hi, do you mean you will travel like Tokio-Seoul-Shanghai-Tokio? If yes, you are able to use the free transit in Shanghai. When you board the flight in Seoul, you need to inform the airlines that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai. After arriving at Shanghai airport, you can go to the transit counter to apply for that by bringing your passport, the return or onward tickets. Nice trip!

Hi again,

Thanks for your quick answer! Yes, But Tokio-Seoul-Shanghai is one ticket (same company). Shanghai-Tokio direct the next day. Would this still be ok?

Also, is this also the case if the routing is Tokio-Shanghai - Shanghai-Pusan(south Korea)-Tokio?

That's fine. Tokyo-SH-Busan-Tokyo is also OK.
