144 hour Visa-free transit visiting Shanghai and Beijing

Does this qualify for a Visa-free visit? Flying into Shanghai from Tokyo for two nights. Then flying to Hong Kong for a night. Then flying to Beijing for two nights before flying back to the US via a stop in Tokyo. Thanks!!
