Shenzhen VOA for Australian Passport Holders

We're visiting HK in two weeks time and would like to go to SZ for shopping. We're Australia citizens but born in Iran.

In 2015, we applied for and were issued the 5-day VOA on Louhu and went into SZ and that was great. Last year (2016) we tried the same but we were told that the 5-day VOA won't be issued because of our country of birth and we should apply with the Chinese embassy in Hong Kong for a visa. We ended up returning to Hong Kong very disappointed :(.

Do you know if this situation has changed or should we forget about going to SZ because of country of birth even though we both hold Australian passports.

Thanks

Oh, this may not happen now. They will issue the VOA according to your passport. In case, you can dial 86 0755 82324022 to consult in advance.
