can we avail visa-free transit lay over about 15hrs

We have a layover about 15hrs at PVG arrive 06:55pm and our nextflight will be the following the day 10:50 am, so we are planning to check in hotel nearby the airport but we dont have a visa.This what i read For foreigners who hold tickets to a third country and have booked seats on international airlines, ships, trains transiting through China, if the stay is less than 24 hours, they can enjoy the 24-hour direct transit. In case they want to leave the specified transit zone, they can ask for a temporary stay permit at the immigration counter. The 24-hour direct transit facility benefits almost all country citizens and is available in most China ports.Would be possible can immigration give us request free  transit

Hi, Michelle, you can make use of 24 hr direct and get the a temporary stay permit at the immigration counter in Shanghai if you will go to a third country or region different from the last one you come from after transiting in Shanghai. Nice trip!
