144 hr visa

Hello there I hold an Australian passport and I am currently in Shanghai awaiting submission for a rEsident Z working type. I have used up my two entry visas - can I go to Hong Kong for personal trip for a few days and return to Shanghai on the 144 hr visa- I have a ticket to Australia booked for the day after I would return to Shanghai to then go to Sydney?
