About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

SYDNEY-GUANGZHOU-AMSTERDAM

My friend and I are travelling from Sydney back to Amsterdam with a 17h layover in Guangzhou. We would like to visit the center i.s.o. staying at the airport. Are we allowed to take the 72 or 24 Free-Transit Visa? Do we need to book it in advance or can we just do it on arrival in Guangzhou? Thank you for the reply!

Based on recent information, Guangzhou immigration will not issue you an entry permit if your layover is less than 24 hours. You can try to reason with them but I doubt if they will make an exception.
