About:Gubei Water Town

Is it a good time to visit Gubei Water Town & Simatai Great Wall in December?

Hi there !!!!
I will stay 1 night at the town, would you recommend a good high-end hotel for me?
For Simatai, is there any easy section that will take to much energy to hike?
For transportation is there any direct or express bus from Beijing downtown to Gubei and return. If yes, please share more information.

As I know, Dec. may not be the best time there, but you can also enjoy the different winter beauty. In addition, Simatai is a good section for hiking, and you can walk for 20 minutes to get to the first Smoke Tower of the Great Wall.

As for hotel, you can choose Gubei Zhiguang Hot-spring Resort Hotel in the town.

You can take metro line 2 to Dongzhimen to take bus 970, and then get off at Miyun. After that, transfer to bus Miyun51 to the town.

Hi Selina,
Thank you for your sharing.
Just one more thing, I read there is gondola there, can I take the gondola to go up and down the wall to avoid too much hiking as I am not good as at it especially during winter.

Yes, you can take it. I’ve also read about it, and as I know, it takes CNY160 for a round trip.
