question about 72 Hour Free Transit

Hi,
Planning to book a cruise on Royal Caribbean April 2018 where the cruise leaves out of Tinajin, China, but my flight would land in Beijing. The cruise ends in Hong Kong. I am a US Citizen, do I qualify for a 72 Hour Free Transit for this or do I need to apply for a entry permit? Thank you for your time.

Hi, you cannot enjoy 72 hour free transit in Beijing because of your stopover in Tianjin. You need to apply for a visa for that.
