About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Help ! 72 hour policy! Please

Hello,
I'm asking this on behalf of my boss. she is Canadian and would like to go to china for 2 days and hoping to use this 72 hour policy.
can she travel from New York ~ chengdu ( with 1 stop lay over time 3 hours in Japan ) ~new york ( with lay over time 3 hour in Korean )

She can do that if her Japan-Chengdu and Chengdu-Korea flights are nonstop.

Thank you John Doe. Yes korea to Chengdu and chengdu to Jason is nonstop.
I'm just worry that china border may think it's NY- Chengdu - NY. Since in between is just one stop layover time...
do they only count as where the most recent flight is from not where its original began ?
