Indonesian on transit via Beijing

Hello, I am an Indonesian citizen living in the UK. I am planning to visit family in Asia but wondering if I get out of the Beijing airport while taking a connecting flight that is 23 hours apart on the way back to London. If so, I would like to book a hotel, take a short city tour and get back to the airport for the connecting flight. Do I need to apply for visa? Please kindly advise. Thanks.

You don’t need to apply for a visa because you qualify for the 24 hour direct transit in Beijing. You just need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at Beijing airport and then you can go to the city for a visit.
