Can US Passport holder, the 法人 and sole shareholder of a Chinese company, apply for a work visa?

Can US Passport holder, the 法人 and sole shareholder of a Chinese company, apply for a work Z type through their own company?
I started an architecture and design company while completing my Master degree in Hangzhou and as I am about to graduate if I am to stay in the country and continue this work I will need a work/business visa. My uncertainty lies in the fact that I would essentially be providing myself with a letter of invitation from my own company. Do you have any advice on how to proceed?
