Extending stay in Shanghai after cruise

We are flying Newark to Tokyo, cruising around Japan and South Korea ending in Shanghai and are extending stay in Shanghai for two nights before flying Shanghai to Newark. Do we need a visa? Or are we covered under the 144 hour stay?

According to your travel route, you can use the 144-hour visa free tranist in Shanghai and do not need to apply for a visa. You may double confirm with the cruise company before leaving.
