can i fly from canada to chinathen back to canada via usa?

Hello -Can I fly into China from Canada - spend time in Beijing -- and then fly into USA but only as a transfer back to Canada? I would have a 4 hour layover in USA.

If you stay in Beijing for less than 72 hours, you don’t need a visa for China then. You will qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing.
