About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We are using our American Passports,

My wife, my son and me, will be arriving to Hong Kong for one day from Dubai, then we will stay 48 hours in Guangzhou, from there we will spend one day in Beijing to continue to Netherlands, the question is we need the visa or can we apply for the 144 hours free transit benefit.
Any pictures of hourly hotel rooms in airport T2. ??

Thank you.

You need to apply for a visa because you can only transit in one city within China according to the 72 hour direct transit policy.
