I am trying to buy my airplane ticket from Guilin to Hong Kong in a Chinese website but my passport

Expires in June 2017 can I still buy it or would I have any problems?

It is no problem for you to buy the air tickets from Guilin to Hong Kong in May 2017 by using your passport which will expire in June 2017. Just take your passport when you take the train or flight in China. If you will update your passport, please bring both old and new passports with you.
