Hello I am Australian and will be travelling to Shanghai for 5 days then to Taiwan

after a week in Taiwan I will return to Shanghai for 5 more days.

Am I eligible for two 144-hour visas? Under Chinese law is Taiwan considered another country for travel purposes?

Dierdre, you will be eligible for the 144 hour free transit in both directions. Taiwan will be regarded as a third region when speaking of the 144 hour policy.
