Is the Forbidden City open on May 1st?

We are on a studytrip to Beijing during the National Holiday and we planned to visit the Forbidden City on May first. However, we are uncertain if the Forbidden City is actually open on May 1st. I know it is not ideal timing but the other days we will be visiting universities.
