About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Us - Guangzhou- shanghai - us

Can I make this trip say 4 days in Guangzhou then fly to shanghai and stay there for 3 days. Then fly back to us? Will I need to fly to a third different location? Do I need a visa that's longer then 144?

If so, you need to apply for a visa for that. If you want to use the 144 hour free transit, you can only transit in either Guangzhou or Shanghai for not exceeding 144 hours; and it should also involve a third country or region.

If so, you won’t be able to use the free transit.
