About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am taking a cruise in April of this year. I fly into Hong Kong and fly out of Tokyo.

The only port in China the ship stops in between is Shanghai for less then a full day. Do I need a visa for this trip? The cruise line is giving me mixed responses. Thanks,

Nicole, if your travel route is country A-Shanghai-country B, you will be able to use the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. No visa will be needed then.
