About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Canadian going from Canada to Beijing to Taiwan: proof that 72 hours visa-free is allowed?

I had some trouble once before at the Chinese customs last time I did this route. Eventually they did let me through. Does the Chinese government say anywhere online that for immigration purposes Taiwan is treated as another country? I would like to print an 'official' website out just to have it on hand if there is an issue. Thanks! I will check out the rest of your site.

I forgot to say: nothing about Taiwan (nor HK and Macau) is mentioned on the Chinese embassy in Canada website.

Taiwan is treated as a separate country like HK or Macau for transit purposes.
