About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Shanghai to Bangkok layover

My wife, daughter and myself will be laying over in Shanghai for about 38 hours before flying onto Bangkok. We will get a hotel near the airport and spend a couple of nights there before flying onto Bangkok. My daughter and myself are American citizens (American passports). My wife is a Thai citizen with Thai passport but a permanent resident in America. What visas will we need for this trip? Thanks so much.

Phoongdan, your daughter and you can enjoy the 72 hour free transit in Shanghai. No visa will be needed then, but your wife needs to apply for a transit G type or tourist L type for that.
