About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Transitting to a domestic flight

Hi,

Our airline changed our flights. We are travelling from Sweden to Shanghai with visas. We now have a much longer stopover stopover in Beijing. Can we process immigration in Beijing and then just check in for our flight to Shanghai or do we need a 72 hour free transit for our ten hour stopover. We plan to visit either the wall or imperial Palace, undecided yet.

You already have a Chinese visa and your final destination is Shanghai, so there's no need to apply for the 72-hour free transit since you'll be clearing Chinese immigration in Beijing. After you entered China you can travel on your own itinerary.
