About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US - Beijing Stay Question

I am traveling from the US to PEK landing Feb 7th @14:55 then depart on Feb 10th @ 10:10. I should not need a visa based on this being less than 72 hours. Is this correct?

Also, the hotel I stay with will register me with the police?

Shawn, yes, it is correct. You will qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing.
Usually, the hotel will register it for you, but you’d better confirm that with the hotel.

But you must leave on Feb 10th to a third country, not to the US or to another city in China.
