About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I forgot to tell you that my ticket is a multi destination ticket, Los Angeles to Hong Kong,

to Xian, and then back to Los Angeles. 5 days in Hong Kong and then 3 days in Xian. Does the 72 hour visa apply? Thanks
