Stuva, unfortunately, your itinerary is not eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. The reason for that is your itinerary that has its immediate points before and after mainland China (Shenzhen) in just one entity in your case in Hong Kong. So, this is considered as a round (return) trip and not a transit. Transit simply has to have the immediate points before and after mainland China in two different countries or eligible territories. Eligible territories are Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. In your case, I would suggest you to rely on a Shenzhen 5 day visa on arrival that you can easily obtain at three designated border crossings, preferably at Lo Wu / Luohu. The price is affordable 130 CNY and you do not need to perform any formality until you reach the border crossing. When your Shenzhen 5 day visa is granted, you will just continue to Shenzhen. After your visit to Shenzhen is done, you can return back to Hong Kong by taking any border crossing and any mean of transport, high speed train included. Have a nice journey.
