Cruise from Shanghai-Japan ports of call-Shanghai

My husband, nephew & I are US passport holders. My sister is a Philippine passport holder. The four of us are taking a cruise via Royal Caribbean in Aug 2017 flying out of MNL to SH. The cruise will last for 6 days and will loop back on the 6th day. We all fly back from SH to MNL the same day. After MNL, my husband & I will go back to the U.S. Will we all need China visas?

Gemm, if your stay in Shanghai is less than 144 hours each time, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit there, in this case, no visa will be needed; but for Philippines passport holders, if they stop in Shanghai for more than 24 hours, they should apply for a visa in advance.
