About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

hk hangzhou shanghai japan

i think this would probably work for the 144 hr visa free. but just to double check here. flying from hkg to hangzhou. then taking the train to shanghai or by bus. then taking off from pvg to tokyo. all within 144 hours. would this be legit for the visa free? thanks.

Yes, you can enjoy 144 hour visa free transit in wider Shanghai area and you do not need any kind of visa. It is just important that your flight to Bangkok does not have any additional landing within mainland China, but that it flies nonstop from Shanghai area to Bangkok.

Of course it is. You can combine different airports and cruise ports within the same transit area and both Hangzhou and Shanghai are in the same area. You are just advised to print out your flight tickets in order to be able to present them in both Hong Kong and upon landing in Hangzhou. It is important that your flight from Hong Kong to Hangzhou does not have any additional landing within mainland China and that your flight from Shanghai to Tokyo does not have any additional landing within mainland China and in Hong Kong. If your itinerary is as I have explained, you are perfectly fine for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Shanghai area.
