About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

DTW to Shanghai arriving 24 Dec 7:30 pm - depart Shanghai to DT on 26 Dec 1:30pm

I will be flying as a non-revenue passenger (spousal rights of employee). My partner is not woking this flight but friends will be in Cabin crew and have invited me to join them. Do I qualify for this 72/144 hour visa program by simply using Shanghai airport immigration services? My ticket is coded NRSB which allows me to enter other airports around US and Europe with actual seat assigned at gate prior to departure. Will this program apply to me? Although employee friends has said yes, I'd want to avoid embarassment/delays/fines/arrest/confinement to airport and required immediate return? What's your studied opinion?? Thanks

Regardless of your ticket type, you won't be eligible for the TWOV anyway because of your destination country is the same as the departure country (i.e., not "in transit").
