Flying in from Sydney to shanghai and then getting 5 day cruise

Hello, I am flying into shanghai and going on 5 day cruise to stopping in Japan and South Korea and then back to Shanghai. So do I get 144 hour visa on arrival and again on my return as long as I travel back to Hong Kong or can I get 72 hour free transit on return as I'm coming from South Korea and travel directly back to Sydney. Thank you.

Jean, it depends on the length of the layover for your second stay in Shanghai. No matter you will travel to HK or Sydney, you can enjoy the 72 or 144h free transit.
