About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

Hello, I will be arriving in PEK from Los Angeles and transferring on a flight to Bangkok.

Will I need to go through security and customs at PEK? Also, will I need to pick up my checked baggage and re-check it for my flight to Bangkok?

Oh, it's international to international transfer at PEK. Do the both flights located in the same terminal? If yes, reclaiming the luggage is unnecessary. But you need to go through the security and customs.
BTW, the correct procedures are the following:
Flight Arrival - Transfer Procedures - Stamped on your Boarding Pass - Security Check - Custom Inspection - Waiting & Boarding
